Welcome to Tayside Fire and Rescues Safety Pages
Welcome to Tayside Fire and Rescue’s Community Fire Safety webpage. Our department's activities fall into three main categories:
Home Fire Safety
Water Safety
Road Safety![]()
Tayside Fire and Rescue in partnership with others are committed to Protecting the Community for a Safer Tayside.
We are actively involved in Community Safety campaigns both at local and national level. Focusing more attention on education, raising awareness amongst the most vulnerable people within the community in order to reduce the suffering caused by fires and other emergencies. Consequently, the key to our success is a move from re-active to pro-active intervention.
Every year in the UK there are:
• 63,000 house fires
• 14,000 people injured by fire and 500 DEATHS.
The main causes of accidental dwelling fires within Tayside are:
1. Cooking
2. Smoking Materials
3. Electrical Appliances
In Tayside, over the past two years, alcohol has been a contributory factor in 50% of deaths in fires.
Our department's core advice is centred around three key messages:
