AREA MANAGER B VACANCIES
Tayside Fire and Rescue are offering an excellent, but challenging, opportunity for Area Managers, with ambition and drive to come and join our Management Team.
Successful applicants will possess clear vision, leadership and change management abilities which we can use to build on the service improvements already made in support of the achievement of organisational excellence.
You will require excellent communication skills and have critical decision making abilities which will support continuous improvement through our “Towards a Safer Tayside” Integrated Risk Management Planning process.
People are the most valued asset of any organisation and, as well as having proven leadership abilities, you will need to be a team player, able to motivate and engage others, both corporately and within your function, whilst supporting and actively promoting equality and diversity.
With a track record of managerial success, your career will clearly demonstrate your ability to make a measurable, positive contribution to the organisation. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to lead, monitor and support people to resolve operational incidents as described in EFSM2.
Applicants will currently be at competent Group Manager level and provide evidence (at the time of interview) of having passed a Strategic Assessment and Development Centre, or equivalent, in order to demonstrate that they have the potential to operate at Area Manager level. We are also pleased to invite applications from existing Area Managers looking to transfer to Tayside.
The roles of Area Manager are as defined in the NJC National Role Maps which can be found at:
http://www.lge.gov.uk/lge/aio/52173.
Area Managers are required to work a 78-hour flexible duty system. The salary and terms and conditions of service are those detailed in the National Joint Council for Local Authority Fire and Rescue Services as adopted by Tayside Fire and Rescue.
Successful applicants will be required to provide on-call accommodation within an appropriate area of Tayside as approved by the Chief Fire Officer. All Area Manager posts within Tayside Fire and Rescue are interchangeable and therefore you could be based in Dundee or Perth.
Due to the sensitive nature of the duties a standard disclosure will be sought from Disclosure Scotland for the successful candidate.

Interviews for short listed applicants will be held during the week commencing 16 November 2009.
