


Corporate Services
The Corporate Services Department is one of three departments which come under the Service Support business stream, its activities are coordinated from Headquarters at Blackness Road under the leadership of the Head of Corporate Services, with satellite offices at both Macalpine Road and Perth Stations. It is responsible for ensuring that both the short and long term requirements for a number of departments are properly planned and adequately resourced.
Finance
The Finance Section, led by the Financial Manager, is based at headquarters and provide an in-house service which includes payroll and accounts. The payroll activities are co-ordinated with Dundee City Council who provide access to their electronic payroll software system. The accounts activities include the raising of orders, receipt and payments of invoices, co-ordination of internal and external auditors, adherence to financial regulations and insurance.
The team also provide budget holders from each department with monthly updates of their financial position regards both capital and revenue budgets.
Information and Performance
Our Information and Performance team are responsible for the development of the Performance Management Framework for the organisation and pursuit of Best Value. We are committed to continuous improvement and have adopted the European Foundation for Quality Management system to assist in the development of this ethos. This is an ever developing process which will, through time, be mainstreamed into the everyday workings of the organisation.
In collaboration with other departments we have developed a suite of internal performance indicators to compare each department’s performance against predetermined targets. A further suite of indicators was developed together with the other seven Scottish Fire and Rescue Services for the purpose of benchmarking and comparing.
The team are responsible for the flow of information and communication within the organisation and also with our external stakeholders, this includes the production and promotion our Strategic Action Plans (Towards a Safer Tayside) and other corporate publications. They also deal with issues related to Freedom of Information, Data Protection and the Media.
Administration
Administration support for headquarters based managers is delivered by the General Office staff at that site, whilst Legislative Fire Safety support is delivered at Perth and Community Safety support is delivered at Macalpine Road, Dundee. The Administration Section are also responsible for records management and populating the pages of the internet and intranet and production of the Quickfire staff newsletter.
