Tayside Fire and Rescue Board
Race Equality Scheme
2008 – 2009
Consultation Questionnaire
The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 placed a duty on all Scottish Fire and Rescue Services including Tayside Fire and Rescue to promote race equality in carrying out all of their functions.
In order to meet both our general and specific duties under Section 71(1) of the Race Relations Act, Tayside Fire and Rescue are required to prepare and publish a race equality scheme at least every three years. We are producing our third Race Equality Scheme, which unlike previous schemes this is a one year race equality scheme as we are implementing a Single Equality Scheme in 2009 which will incorporate all six equality strands: Race, Disability, Gender, Age, Sexual Orientation and Religion or Belief.
Under the general race equality duty Tayside Fire and Rescue recognises its obligation to:
· Promote equality of opportunity; and
· Promote good relations between persons of different racial groups
We welcome feedback from all individuals in the communities we serve across Tayside. Please take the time to complete this questionnaire and help us improve the services we provide. All responses will be treated in strict confidence.
