


Kingsway East Fire Station (Wholetime)
Kingsway East Fire Station, Dundee was opened on the 15tNovember 1972 by the Bailie William Millar, who at that time was Chairman of Angus Fire Area Joint Committee.
Although Station fire grounds have now been changed, recognised boundaries for Kingsway East Fire Station included Mill O’Mains, Fintry, Whitfield, Mid Craigie, Craigie, Douglas, West Ferry, the docks all landward areas to the north east and east of the city. The Geographical area served by Kingsway East is both urban and rural.
Kingsway East Fire Station has a Rescue pump, a Water Tender ladder, a Command Support Unit and a Foam Salvage Unit and is staffed by 60 fulltime firefighters broken down into 4 watches.
In addition to providing fire cover, the staff undertake a wide range of Community Safety activities which are aimed at preventing fire related fatalities / injuries and road traffic collision fatalities and injuries. Various methods of educating the public are utilised in pursuit of these goals and ultimately progress the goals of Tayside Fire and Rescue’s Mission Statement.
The main premises within Kingsway East fire ground include Michelin Tyre Plant, DC Thomson, several large industrial estates and a busy harbour. A great proportion of the area is largely residential and reflects a wide variety of socio-economic groups and the type of housing varies accordingly.
