Dunkeld Fire Station

Dunkeld Fire Station (Retained)

Dunkeld fire station strangely enough is not situated in Dunkeld but across the River Tay in the village if Birnam next to the Beatrix Potter garden and Exhibition Centre.  It was previously housed in the garages of the Victorian Birnam House Hotel before the present station was open by The Earl of Mansfield in 1963. The current crew consists of 1 Watch Manager, 2 Crew Managers and five Firefighters, crewing a scania pump.  All personnel have full time jobs, as well as responding to fire calls, attending training nights, maintenance nights and carrying out home fire safety visits in the surrounding community.

Dunkeld has many  tourist attractions from the beautiful countryside to the many famous hotels, which offer fishing, shooting, golf and of course Dunkeld cathedral .

Dunkeld fire station is situated by the A9 midway between Perth and Pitlochry and can be asked to respond in either direction although mainly responds north to assist Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, but we can end up across to the Blairgowrie area.
