Aberfeldy Fire Station (Retained)

Aberfeldy Fire Station is located in the town's Crieff Road.  It was officially opened by Provost James Fisher of the town on Wednesday 14 May 1969.  The station covers the town and surrounding area from the county boundary near Killin in the West to Ballechin in the East with a population of approximately 4,500.

The station is crewed by 12 personnel working the retained duty system. The personnel consist of one Watch Manager, two Crew Managers and nine firefighters. The Station has one Scania Rescue pump fully equipped to deal with a large range of incidents from fires, road traffic collisions, water type incidents and special service calls. The personnel at the station have full time jobs in the town and carry a pager which enables them to respond to incidents from their place of work and home as they happen. In addition to this they also attend the station on a weekly basis to carry out on going training of their skills and testing and maintenance of the equipment and appliance.

Aberfeldy is the main town in the Tay Valley sitting in the heart of highland Perthshire. It is a small market town and a popular holiday destination for outdoor pursuits. One of the local visitor attractions include the Dewar’s World of Whisky and Distillery, and the renowned Birks of Aberfeldy where Scotland national bard Robert Burns got the inspiration to write many of his poems and songs.
