Recruitment
Tayside Fire and Rescue is committed to ensuring that vacancies which arise in the organisation are filled by the most suitable person. In doing so we are committed to treating all applicants fairly, ensuring that all are given an equal opportunity to demonstrate that they are the best candidate for the role.
Guaranteed Interview Scheme (support posts only)
As part of Tayside Fire and Rescue’s commitment, as a disability symbol user, all applicants who meet the minimum criteria in the person specification and who apply under the scheme, are guaranteed a job interview. Due to numerous stages in wholetime/retained/volunteer firefighter recruitment and recruitment for firefighters (control) it is not possible to guarantee an interview for people who meet the minimum standards for the role.
Reasonable adjustments are therefore made where possible.
Reasonable Adjustments (all posts)
Tayside Fire and Rescue is committed to meeting its duties under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Section 6 of the DDA 1995 states that an employer has a duty to take steps as are reasonable to prevent any arrangements being made which place a disabled employee or applicant at a disadvantage compared to a non-disabled applicant.
Examples of Adjustments That Can Be Made.
• Adjustments to premises
• Altering working hours
• Modifying procedures for testing or assessment
• Acquiring modified equipment
• Modifying instructions or reference manuals
Adjustments can be made at any time during recruitment and selection procedures and through employment.
